TAP AUDITION

Level 3

To place in a Level 3, dancers must demonstrate: 

  • Single/One Foot Wing

  • Double/Split Wings

  • Single (Foot) Pull Back

  • 7-Count Riff

  • Creative Improv incorporating more advanced skills

  • Intuitive Body Control/Placement

  • Exceptional Performance Value

  • Precise Musicality/Execution

  • A minimum performance score of 4 out of 5

Level 2

  • Double Pull Back

  • Wings

  • Turning Cramp Roll

  • Turning Maxi Ford

  • Crossing Drawbacks

  • 5-Count Riff

  • Confident Improv

  • Correct Body Control/Placement

  • Dynamic Performance Value

  • Appropriate Musicality/Execution

  • A minimum performance score of 3 out of 5

To place in a Level 2, dancers must demonstrate:

Level 1

  • Flap

  • Shuffle

  • Pull Back

  • Cramp Roll

  • Maxi Ford

  • Draw Backs

  • Toe Stand

  • 3-Count Riff

  • Basic Improv

  • Body Control/Placement

  • Performance Value

  • Musicality/Execution

  • A minimum performance score of 2 out of 5

To place in a Level 1, dancers must demonstrate:

The Tap audition will begin with a short series of skills and progressions. These are performed solo across the floor. Dancers will then learn a combo and perform it twice, in groups of 3-4, followed by a brief improv jam to highlight musicality.
